Non-violence communication

Trained as an educator, I have worked for many years with children aged 0 to 12 in childcare centers as well as in homes, both in France and England. I have always been deeply interested in implementing various pedagogies and studying the different aspects of child development. Despite this “intensive” preparation on a subject I thought I had “mastered,” I must say that all my certainties about education and relationships were challenged when I became a mother 11 years ago. I realized the gap between my knowledge, my aspirations, and my ability to achieve them. It was very painful, and I judged myself harshly for it.

What has supported and helped me develop conscious parenting has undoubtedly been my encounter with Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
This process, developed by Marshall Rosenberg, is an invaluable daily tool for better understanding, managing,

and breaking the vicious cycle of certain situations I encounter with my children, but also more broadly with my family, friends, and colleagues.

Nonviolent Communication gives me clarity about my own behavioural mechanisms and, more broadly, about our communication habits as human beings. It is a concrete tool that allows for better self-understanding and also helps in expressing oneself in a way that encourages cooperation.
How do we talk to our children when our emotions overwhelm us?

How do we really listen to our children?
How do we manage disputes between children?
How do we break the vicious cycle of punishment?

What to offert to a 6 months baby who refuse milk?
What type of massage for babies?

Positive education: let them do everything?
Children’s anger: a benefit?
Montessori pedagogy, how to use it in practice

And so many other challenges we face as parents…
